Book & Bites: Families of students ages 5-8 can enjoy a family meal, followed by interactive storytelling, to introduce your child to the love of reading. This is ideal for struggling readers who may need a little extra support to achieve their reading goals this school year. Activities rotate on a six week basis. Participants will receive a new book each week and the opportunity to win door prizes for attending. Older siblings of participants can check out STEM bags and participate in STEAM programming during the same time slot. Younger siblings of participants can sign up for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program to earn free prizes. Participants ages 12 and under require a guardian present to participate.
Toombs County Libraries’ TEAMS Afterschool Program provides programs in Literacy as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). The program aims to provide tools for students to succeed in school, foster a passion for learning and empower them to become future leaders.
Key outcomes to be achieved include improved academic performance, increased interest and confidence in STEAM and literacy subjects, enhanced critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and a greater sense of belonging and engagement within the school community.
